Lewis Hamilton’s brilliance aside, tedious French Grand Prix highlights F1’s biggest problems

The fiery debate after a gripping and controversial Canadian Grand Prix lasted nearly two weeks. It is difficult to see memories of a thoroughly tedious French Grand Prix lasting longer than two hours. 

After last year’s travel chaos in Le Castellet, some in attendance believed that fans stayed away this time as a result. This year’s race will do even less to encourage repeat visitors

It wasn’t just the on-track action that was flat. The atmosphere awaiting winner Lewis Hamilton as he emerged triumphant from his number 44 Mercedes was lifeless.
