What will supplier visits to travel agencies look like in the future? A recently conducted survey of our luxury travel advisor audience showed that a third of advisors expect to welcome suppliers back into their offices by this summer; however, another third said they’ll only accept them in if they are vaccinated. Seventeen percent said they plan to do only Zoom calls in the future with suppliers.
This may be temporary as the pandemic dissipates, but it’s more important than ever that suppliers maintain their communication and strong partnerships with advisors, who upsell their offerings and bring in high-profit sales.
I’m also wondering how U.S. suppliers will fare once international borders open up. In our roundtable with Frosch travel advisors, we hear that domestic travel is selling out for 2021 since clients cannot yet go to Europe. But what will happen to this domestic love affair after that? The U.S. hoteliers who forge strong, respectful relationships with luxury travel advisors now are those who will garner their profitable bookings in the future.
